August 22 Blood test resultsI got my results from the doctor today. He also weighed me: 54.3 kg. He said that was down from the last time, but I have that I was 54.5 kg in July, so that seems stable to me. I think he must have been looking at some older data.
TSH basal 7.9 (normal 0.35 - 4.5)
FT4 13.6 (normal 10.3 - 21.9)
FT3 4.47 (normal 3.08 - 6.47)
The FT3 and FT4 are normal, but since the TSH is still elevated (last time, 7 weeks ago, it was 8.8, so it's gotten better, but not enough), the doctor recommended increasing my dosage to 0.1 mg per day. That is quite a jump, as I am currently at 0.1 mg 4x a week and 0.05 mg 3x a week. I am going to finish my current bottle of 0.05 mg tablets before beginning the 0.1 mg tablets, and I will start slipping in some double dosages (0.1 mg) on 0.05 mg days. That way, hopefully it won't be one big jump all at once. Looking forward to those sleep disturbances and heart palpitations already.
I also got a new prescription for iron tablets. We didn't measure the ferritin levels this time, but last time, in May, it was at 16 (normal is 10 up to something in the hundreds). Next blood test on 29 September will be for thyroid levels and iron. August 18 Blood testI went to the doctor's this morning for a blood test, both for the long-term blood sugar and for the thyroid hormones. They took a vial and a half and I didn't faint. August 16 Am I really that skinny?Today, a neighbor woman whom I know but don't usually talk to stopped me on the sidewalk and asked if I was okay... she'd noticed that I'd been losing a lot of weight.
It's been a while since I've been online since I was on vacation. We went to some amusement parks, where I carried a backpack around all day with drinks and snacks for the kids. It wasn't that heavy, but the first day, I got a terrible headache by the end of the day. I just had to take 2 Tylenol and go to bed. The next day, I woke up with a terrible backache in my lower back, and actually I never really got rid of it, although it has gotten a lot better. I had another whopping headache at the end of that day, too. I'm pretty sure the headaches were because of the backpack, although I suppose it might also have been that I didn't drink enough, even though I did keep pretty well hydrated and kept refilling my water bottle. Luckily, we also went to a thermal bath, and that felt sooooo good! To sit in 37-degree water with a massage jet aimed at my back... I could have sat there all day! |
