February 18 Weight up, good thyroidI finally got the results back from my last blood test (blood drawn on 8 Feb... my birthday! I had to fast until the blood was drawn, so I couldn't eat breakfast
Since all signs were thus positive, Dr. Sutter wanted me to increase the Levothyroxine to 10 mcg three times a week, up from twice a week now, but then I told him I'd been having those heart episodes again (ooh, actually, I'm having one now...) where it feels like my heart pauses for a beat, then beats really strong for a few seconds. So he said, that's fine, we'll stay at the current dosage until my heart doesn't do that anymore. The thyroid values are all good anyway.
I have also been checking blood sugar more often, and have not had any more high(ish) readings.
On another note, both my kids were sick this past week. Kati had a 103-F fever three nights in a row, and it would come and go during the day. She was conked out nearly the whole time, just sleeping on the couch or staring at the ceiling. She listened to music and story cassettes some, but didn't even want to read. Then the fever went away, and she got a bad cough and runny nose, but perked up and was able to go out and play. On that same day, William got it, but without the fever. But he basically also spent three days not wanting to do anything. Today he slept or lay in bed nearly all day. I, on the other hand, have been completely without symptoms. February 06 Borderline blood sugar readingI had a borderline blood sugar reading yesterday. I haven't been checking much, figuring it was pretty much OK. Then I measured yesterday after lunch, and it was 119 (normal is considered up to 120).
I had eaten one big, very sweet orange (probably counted as 1-1/2 if not 2 fruits), 2 dL of homemade cauliflower soup (cauliflower, onion, milk, butter, water, spices; counted as 1 veg plus maybe 1/2 milk), 1 cup of fried potatoes and onions (2-3 starches). I didn't even eat any protein. The measurement was taken 50 minutes after I had begun the meal, instead of the standard 1 hour, and during those 50 minutes, I was just sitting.
I measured my blood sugar three hours later, and it was down to 86. I wanted to take my blood sugar after dinner, but I forgot.
I measured my blood sugar this morning before eating, and it was 86, so normal. Then I measured it one hour after breakfast, and it was 93. Breakfast consisted of 1 croissant with butter, one slice of whole-wheat bread with butter, one big orange, and one cup of milk.
I will measure it again one hour after lunch. February 04 Toe on the mendOur friend the toe seems to be nearly all better. It wasn't sore this morning, just a bit red, no more pus. More ointment, bandage, good to go. February 03 More infected toeSo tonight there was a bunch of thick, white pus coming out from the side of the nail. I think we have an abcess situation here. It doesn't hurt much, but it's all red and tender next to the nail. I put more antibiotic ointment on (which I've been doing twice a day anyway). How bad does it have to be for me to go to the doctor? |
